We are looking for BeCAT supporters and researchers.

Kyushu University's BeCAT (Built Environment Center with Art & Technology) is an educational and research program that combines design and engineering to tackle social issues.
Our goal is not to stop at research, but to work with companies and local governments to advance social implementation and explore the future of sustainable cities and architecture.
Supporting this endeavor are BeCAT supporters. We would be delighted if you would participate in our efforts to cultivate the next generation of talent in architecture, urban planning, and environmental protection. We are also recruiting researchers to advance research activities based on BeCAT's philosophy.

What is a BeCAT supporter?

BeCAT Supporters are a donation program with an annual membership fee, funded through the Kyushu University Fund, and participation starts from 10,000 yen per year.

We offer various benefits depending on the amount of your contribution, so we would appreciate it if you could support BeCAT in a way that suits your level of involvement.

① 1 unit: 10,000 yen/year
You will receive the following benefits.
This program is recommended for those who resonate with BeCAT's philosophy and want to support the next generation of architecture, urban planning, and environmental solutions.
- Invitation to lectures by architects and researchers (approximately 3 times a year, both in-person and online)
・Invitation to the BeCAT Studio review session (twice a year in summer and winter)
- Invitation to the BeCAT Applied Program Presentation (held twice a year, in spring and winter)
- Participation in "BeCAT Homecoming Day" (a get-together for alumni and supporters, held irregularly)
・View past lecture videos (in preparation)
・Distribution of activity reports via newsletter
- Donor benefits through the Kyushu University Fund (listing of donors' names, issuance of membership cards, etc.)

② 5 units: 50,000 yen/year
In addition to ①, you will also receive the following benefits.
This is recommended for architectural professionals, architecture students, and others who want to learn simulation technology and expand their design capabilities.
- Lectures on environmental and structural simulations will be available (currently being prepared; scheduled to begin in Fall 2026).

What is a BeCAT Researcher?

This program is designed for architectural professionals, graduate school graduates, and others, and encourages them to engage in individual research based on the principles of BeCAT.
Based on a communication format, you will engage in research and practical work for approximately one year, following a schedule similar to the BeCAT application program.
The process begins with a project proposal meeting in April, followed by regular sketching sessions with BeCAT instructors, and culminates in a final presentation in February where participants will present their findings.
Those who complete the program will be awarded a BeCAT completion certificate.
Furthermore, as part of our efforts to implement our ideas in society, we also provide support for the launch of startups.

[Researcher Annual Membership Fee and Benefits]

15 shares: 150,000 yen/year
You will receive the following benefits.
This program is recommended for those who want to proactively advance their research based on the principles of BeCAT.
• Supporter benefits are available.
- Sketching sessions with BeCAT instructors (approximately every 3 months)
• You can present your research at each presentation session of the applied program. You will also receive feedback from the instructors.

*As a general rule, attendance at the three presentation sessions mentioned above is required in person.
*Sketches can be submitted in person or online.

[BeCAT Studio review session]

At the review session, BeCAT teachers will gather together to enthusiastically discuss the projects with the students.
We sometimes invite people from companies and local governments related to the project to provide advice and comments on how to implement the project in society.

Starting in 2024, we will be holding a Homecoming Day, where BeCAT faculty, current students, alumni, and related parties (supporters and members) will gather.
Current students will present the results of their applied programs, and alumni will give updates on their current situations, making this a forum for information exchange that connects the university with society.
