私たちの社会の住居に関する問題は、単にエンジニアの技術力だけでは解決できません。私の研究哲学はデザイン、工学、そして社会福祉など多学際間の融合を通じて私たちの社会を巡る問題を建築的に解決することです。また、研究から導き出された結果は、できるだけ多くの韓国社会の構成員が享受できるように敷居の低い技術を開発することが私の研究の最終目的です。

私たちは今、かつてないほどの激しい変化の真っただ中にいます。COVID-19が引き起こしたパンデミックはこれまでの都市、建築、生活様式の常識をあっという間にひっくり返し、私たちは今を生きるために一刻も早くこの変化に適応することが求められています。”環境“と”“社会実装”をテーマにしたBeCATでは、世の中に敏感に反応し、建築を越えて社会のプログラム自体、社会のフレームワーク自体を提案できる、新しい建築家象を学生達と共に探っていきたいと考えています。

幸せを共有する営みとしての建築。
建築や都市は、これまで人類が力を合わせて作り上げてきた「もの」であり、目に見える形で永く残ります。人類は協力してこうした大きな「もの」を作ることで繁栄してきましたし、逆に言うとその営み自体に幸せを感じるようになっています。BeCATでは、その名の前の通り芸術と技術を結びつけながら、これまで大学が培ってきた研究の蓄積を社会実装してゆきます。理論だけでなく、それを実社会の中で目に見える「もの」として作り上げる営みを共有することで、多くの人を幸せにすることを目指します。

デザインxエンジニアリングによる
新しい環境建築。今の社会で起きている問題は、ますます複雑化・複合化しており、建築家のデザインだけの力でも、エンジニアの技術力だけでも解決できない事が沢山出てきています。一方で、進化した情報技術は、より多くの情報、より大きなデータを扱う事を可能にし、デザインとエンジニアリングを結びつけながら、分野横断的な技術でそれを解決出来る可能性を示唆しています。BeCATでは、これらの力を駆使して、社会問題や環境問題に切り込み、建築家の新しいあり方を提示したいと思っています。
